Prodigy Math

Students are having fun and practicing math skills while using the Prodigy Math site.  It is a fun and interactive way for 3rd Graders to study math concepts.  It is getting rave reviews...

Founder's Day Fun

A annual Holy Child tradition, the Lower School participated in our Founder's Day Fun Day last week.  The Middle School students helped to run each of the stations, while the Early Childhood and Lower School children has a blast playing games, learning about Cornelia Connelly, eating soft pretzels, and decorating snack bags for a local charity.  

  

  

   

  

  

  

This week's Character Counts students were Owen and Colin.  Owen choose the "Crash the Computer" reward and got to use his Chromebook for 15 extra minutes.  Colin choose "Take Two" and was able to take two things off of his seat work list.

Bat Loves the Night

The "Unicorn Pups" reading group completed their first research project in conjunction with the story, Bat Loves the Night.  Each student choose their favorite bat and wrote a research paper which included size, habitat, description, and special adaptation.  

    

    

  

Health Adventures

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grades visited the Health Education Center at Lankenau Hospital this week.  The 2nd and 3rd Grades attended the Health Adventures program.  They learned there are 206 bones in our bodies and our hearts act as a muscle, pump, and organ.  

      

  

      

  

Character Counts

This week's Character Counts student is Emmet.  He choose the "Teacher Time" reward.  Emmet did a Wayside School real aloud for the class and also taught a science lesson on Bridge construction.  

    

Founder's Day Prayer Service

Students participated in a Founder's Day prayer service on Oct. 15th commemorating the first Mass of the Holy Child Sisters.  At the prayer service they were commissioned to, "Go out and do service for others." This year, the 3rd Grade class will be The Planeteers and help to serve the Earth by participating in various projects to protect our environment.  

SHCJ Sister Francine spoke to students about the Founder's Day tradition.
