Week of January 24 - 28, 2022

Our GoMath! series emphasizes learning a variety of strategies to master the multiplication and division facts.  Students can decide which strategy they are most comfortable with in order to help them memorize the tables. Here are some examples of how students show their knowledge of the various strategies to illustrate multiplication and division facts.

Trapped in a Snow Globe Narrative Stories
Third Grade wrote narrative stories about being trapped in a snow globe.  Using graphic organizers to plan and organize their stories, students wrote rough drafts, and practiced typing their good copies.  Many stories were quite humorous.  I am happy to say that (most) all of the students were able to escape!

The Doctor is In!
Continuing our study of the Circulatory system, students practiced using a stethoscope to hear each other's heart beats.

Mack Ulmer is our Character Counts winner.  Mack shows qualities of responsibility, respect, and good manners.  He choose the "Class Reader" award.  He read aloud to his classmates from our read aloud book, Mr. Popper's Penguins.

Happy Birthday Cornelia Connelly and Martin Luther King!

Students gathered to celebrate Holy Child's foundress, Cornelia Connelly with a birthday party.  Students played Who Wants to be a Cornelian? game and received Cornelia Connelly stickers as a gift.

On Tuesday, we gathered for a prayer service to honor Martin Luther King.  The 4th Grade led us in prayer and song as we remembered this civil rights activist.

The Lower School also honored MLK with a service project for Cradles to Crayons.  Students sorted toiletries that will be sent to this worthwhile organization.
