April 22 - 26, 2019

We have had lots of fun learning about and creating a compost bucket in 3rd Grade Science.  Students learned about the importance of composting and how easy it is to create our very own composter.  Using dirt, dried leaves, egg shells, water, fruits, vegetables, and of course, WORMS, the class worked hard on making a compost bucket.  It is being kept in HCA's Organic garden.  Each day, they will add food scraps leftover from lunch and two students will be responsible for watering and stirring the compost.

3rd Grade Friends love to compost!

As part of our Science unit, we read, The Diary of a Worm.

A young worm discovers, day by day, that there are some very good and some not so good things about being a worm in this great big world.  Afterwards, each child made their own worm comic strip.  Here are a couple:

Geometry Fun!!

Our focus in math class last week was Geometry.  Students learned about lines, angles, polygons, types of triangles, and congruence and symmetry.  They searched the school on a math scavenger hunt to locate geometric shapes, played online games to identify polygons and types of triangles, and made original pictures that contained symmetry.  Here is a glimpse of the fun that was had while learning about geometry.
