This week's Character Counts winner is Zuri.  She has shown positive character traits of caring, responsibility, and citizenship.  Zuri chose the "Read A Book" award and shared a favorite book with the class.  

• Spring Break! Students will be off from March 25th through April 4th. Return back to school on Tuesday, April 5th.

• Spring Uniforms return on Tuesday, April 5th!!

• CTP5 Standardized Testing - Week of April 11 - 14th. Students should arrive to school no later than 7:55 AM. Testing will take place each day between the hours of 8:10 - 12:00.

Week of March 14 - 18. 2022

 Community Time

Last week, students joined together with their HCA families to learn more about Catholic Relief Services. Mrs. Goyer and Mr. Purnell made a presentation about this organization whose mission lives out the corporal works of mercy. 

 During this Lenten season, students are encouraged to contribute to their CRS rice bowls. Each HCA family worked together to make paper chains for a Prayer Chain for Ukraine.

Students learned about the power of grace in their lives. With the help of a simple science experiment (bleach, iodine, and water), students watched how the grace from Christ cleanses us from all sin and renews our hearts. 

Women's History Month

Third Grade has been highlighting influential women this month during Women's History Month.  They researched a famous women who has made a difference in the world and completed a Google Slide assignment.  Here are some examples of their work:

• Student conferences will be held March 24th and 25th; Both in-person and zoom sessions will be offered.

• There will be no school on Friday, March 25th.  Students will be off from March 25th through April 4th. Return back to school on Tuesday, April 5th.

• SPIRIT WEEK will be held next week. See email for more information.

  

Week of March 7 - 11, 2022

Third Grade led the Ash Wednesday prayer service last week as we began the Lenten season.  Students reminded the congregation of the Lenten principles of Prayer, Almsgiving, Penance, and Fasting.  Thank you to Deacon Hank for officiating this special prayer service.  

Third Grade Paleontologists

As we continue our study of dinosaurs, the Third Grade students had the opportunity to "dig" for fossils.  A variety of fossils including clams, shark teeth and vertebrate, and fish chips were found in rocks.  

This week's Character Counts winner is Marianne.  She choose the "Show and Tell" award.  Marianne shared her homemade pencil box with the class.  Congratulations to Marianne for exhibiting positive character traits of responsibility and respect.  

* Dress down day for Saint Patrick’s Day on Thursday, March 17

* Next weekend, students in grades 4-8 will be performing in our spring musical A Disney Spectacular. Shows are at 7:30 pm on Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19. Tickets are $10.00 each. You can purchase them online here through Tuesday, March 15, and they will be available at the door as well.
