Recess Fun
HCA students are fortunate to have two recess periods a day. This time is important for their overall well being, physical development, improving social skills, and cognitive skills. The Third Grade likes to play Four Square, walk on the balance beam, and much more!

Be Extraordinary Journals
Several times a week, the students write in their "Be Extraordinary" journals. Journaling helps them reflect on how they are feeling, their strengths, their struggles, and being mindful of who they really are. It allows the students to improve their written communication, reading skills, grammar & punctuation, all while being able to creatively express themselves.
Learning Math Strategies
Our GoMath! series teaches math concepts with many strategies. Students are introduced to each strategy and then are able to decide which works best for them to solve intricate math problems.
Miles and Cora use counting chips to illustrate Multiplication Arrays
Playing Math Prodigy Game
Cora and Gabbie are the first students to achieve "Character Counts" awards. Students achieve "tickets" for showing good character - Caring, Honesty, Citizenship, Respect, Responsibility, and Patience. Once a student receives five tickets, he/she can choose an award.
Cora and Gabbie both chose the "Fuzzy Friend" Award and brought stuffed animals into school with them.
Congratulations!
