We Are on a Roll!

Learning math facts is fun when you are playing "Multiplication Roll."  Students compete to get to 100 by solving multiplication fact problems.

The class had fun celebrating Mardi Gras this week.  They learned about the cultural significance of the day before Ash Wednesday.  Students wore purple, green, and gold beads, looked at the throws like doubloons and Frisbees, read about Carnivale, and enjoyed a slice of yummy King's Cake.  Joseph was lucky enough to find the baby Jesus doll, too.

I was so proud of the class as they led the Ash Wednesday prayer service this week.
They sang the hymns reverently and read the bible passages articulately for
this special day which begins the season of Lent. Special thanks to Ms. Kathol, Religious Director, for preparing the class and Deacon DeLuca for celebrating with us.

The re-enrollment deadline is next Friday, March 6! Please remember to send your registration in by next week

Week of February 17, 2020

We have been waiting anxiously and the day finally arrived.  The Third Grade celebrated the 100th Day of School on February 18th.   Students participated in many activities including sharing their 100 Bags, competing in various games that lasted for 100 seconds, eating a 100th Day cake (yum!), and so much more.  Ask you child about his/her favorite part of the 100th Day celebration.

Harlem Renaissance

To celebrate Black History month, the class learned about the Harlem Renaissance.  The Harlem Renaissance refers to the cultural, artistic and social expression that defined the New York neighborhood of Harlem between World War I and the 1930s.

Each student choose an influential person from the Harlem Renaissance, including Billie Holiday, Langston Hughes, Zora Neale  Hurston, and Louis Armstrong.  They learned how to take notes and give credit when using books and the internet as resources.  Eventually, the finished products were made into original Adobe Spark videos and presented in front of their classmates and teachers.

This week's Character Counts student is Juliana.  She displayed perseverance and responsibility and was rewarded by bringing in her "Fuzzy Friend" for the day.  Congratulations!
